VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Hertford County is seeking to fill the following part-time position in governmental operations.

 

NUTRITION SITE SUPERVISOR

 

General Definition of Work

Performs intermediate human support work managing the service of meals at a congregate meal nutrition site; does related work as required.  Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Director of Aging.

 

Essential Functions/Typical Tasks

Preparing nutrition site for meals; serving meals at nutrition site; planning activities; maintaining records; preparing reports.

The following functions are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed.  The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to the position.

Prepares, maintains and submits daily, weekly and monthly reports as required.

Prepares home delivered meal supplies.

Prepares site for food delivery and arrival of participants.

Receives food; ensures that food is the appropriate temperature for consumption.

Serves congregate meals; maintains records regarding cost share contributions received from participants.

Cleans and sanitizes site and equipment before and after meal.

Presents information and programs to congregate program participants.

Performs related work as required.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Some knowledge of meal service and reading and following menu instructions; some knowledge of the methods of cleaning and maintaining food service areas, utensils and equipment in a sanitary and safe manner; some knowledge of the nutritional needs of older adults; ability to follow oral instructions and understand simple written terms; skill in the serving of meals and handling of food; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients and associates.

 

Education and Experience

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and a minimum of 1 year experience working with the elderly.

 

Physical Requirements

This is light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects; work requires stooping, crouching, reaching, standing walking, lifting, fingering, grasping, and repetitive; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and to convey detailed or important spoken instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; the worker is not substantially subject to adverse environmental conditions.

 

Special Requirements

Possession of an appropriate driver’s license valid in the State of North Carolina.

 

 

Compensation:

$10.48 per hour
