Hertford County is seeking to fill the following position within governmental operations:
Tax Collections Clerk – Under regular supervision this position performs the accurate receipt of taxes and fees and is responsible for ensuring daily receipts balance against financial reports. In addition, the Tax Collection Clerk assists citizens by tabulating taxes and fees from a variety of sources.
The Clerk performs general office tasks including creating correspondence in Word, spreadsheet maintenance in Excel, filing, data entry and answering telephones. The Clerk also posts daily transactions into the computer system ensuring accuracy as well as assembling and tabulating financial statements.
Minimum Training and Experience: Graduation from high school and a minimum of one (1) year experience in general office work preferably in a tax related field. This position requires general knowledge of Word, Excel, bookkeeping terminology, methods, procedures and equipment.
Starting Salary: $21,457.
