Hertford County is seeking to fill the following full-time position in the Office of Aging.
Senior Center and Nutrition Sites Program Manager
General Definition of Work
Performs intermediate human support work oversees day to day operations of senior center programming and nutrition site activities in accordance with NC DAAS guidelines and financial goals within set budgets, increase participation in congregate and nutrition site activities, increase community awareness of programs and activities, does related work as required. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Director of Aging.
Essential Functions/Typical Tasks
Assist in developing and maintaining programs and services for the County’s aging population; assists in preparing and monitoring associated budgets.

Assists with the development of monthly, weekly and holiday programming for senior center and nutrition sites, trips and tours, senior clubs, and continuing education opportunities.
Responsible for professional and effective program-related business communications (marketing campaigns, print media, etc.)
Develop speakers’ bureau for outreach and continuing education events.
Administers Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) and coordinates open-enrollment events.
Trains, directs, and supervises congregate and home-delivered meals food service programs and nutrition site staff.
Serve as District 1-A Senior Clubs Advisor.
Maintain Chronic Disease Self-Management Program and Matter of Balance Leader Certifications.
Performs annual subcontractor evaluations of food service providers and makes award recommendations to Director.
Responsible for research, application, submission, and compliance of program-related grants.
Performs related tasks as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of the needs, practices and procedures of senior center general purpose and senior center operations funding through HCCBG; thorough knowledge of Senior Health Insurance Information Program, thorough knowledge of community resources available to assist clients and their families; ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain good rapport with clients, families, and vendors; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with community agencies, associates, clients and the general public.
Education and Experience
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in any related field and a minimum of 3 years experience in Human Services.
This is light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently or constantly to move objects; work requires reaching, fingering, grasping and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is not substantially subject to adverse environmental conditions.
Possession of an appropriate driver’s license valid in the State of North Carolina.
Ability to become SHIIP certified within one year of employment.
Annual Salary Range:
$30,193 – $38,496
