Hertford County is seeking to fill the following full-time position in the Office of Aging.
Home Delivered Meals Coordinator
General Definition of Work
Performs intermediate human support work managing the serving of meals at a congregate meal nutrition site and overseeing the home-delivery of meals; does related work as required. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Director of Aging.
Essential Functions/Typical Tasks
Overseeing clients and volunteers at nutrition site; monitoring distribution of meals; planning and presenting activities, trips and speakers for client entertainment; preparing and maintaining files and records.

Orders daily meals for the HC Congregate and the Home Delivered Meals Program.
Prepares and maintains detailed records on the number of meals ordered.
Prepares various records and reports related to program activities.
Collects contributions; fills out deposit slips.
Conducts in-home assessments.
Performs the duties of Nutrition Site Manager as required.
Encourages, recruits and rewards volunteers.
Coordinates and services referrals with other County agencies; conducts outreach services and referrals with participants and caregivers.
Assists with departmental administrative and clerical duties.
Receives and directs incoming calls.
Completes client registration and HC MIS forms on participants.
Maintains inventory and orders supplies for the department and each nutrition site.
Receives and processes incoming and outgoing mail.
Prepares a variety of reports and maintains appropriate files.
Performs related tasks as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
General knowledge of standard office practices, procedures, equipment and office assistance techniques; thorough knowledge of business English, spelling and arithmetic; ability to follow and apply policies and procedures; ability to make arithmetical calculations and to set up forms and statistical tables; ability to type accurately at a reasonable rate of speed; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, associates, clients, community organizations and agency leaders, businesses and the general public.
Education and Experience
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and a minimum of 1 year experience working with the elderly.
This is light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects; work requires climbing, balancing, stooping , kneeling, reaching, lifting, fingering and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for color perception, preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operation of machines and the operation of motor vehicles or equipment; the worker is not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.
Possession of an appropriate driver’s license valid in the State of North Carolina.
