EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN
Essential Functions/Typical Tasks:
Hertford County is seeking an Emergency Medical Technician (Intermediate preferred), which, under regular supervision, will be responsible for responding to emergency or non-emergency calls as a mobile medical unit driver or attendant, perform necessary rescue work to move patients into medical unit, assessing patients, providing life support treatment, stabilizing and treating injuries, transporting patients to and from medical facilities/ residences, performs general upkeep on vehicles, apparatus, equipment, station and grounds, ensures proper supplies and equipment are stocked on vehicles, and prepares necessary patient and insurance reports. Will also participate in continued training and instruction at scheduled drills and classes.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Must have a high school diploma or GED, possess a valid NC driver’s license, and be credentialed by North Carolina Medical Board as an Emergency Medical Technician.
This is very heavy work requiring exertion in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Work requires climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering grasping, feeling, repetitive motion, verbal communication, hearing, visual acuity. Worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions. Worker may be exposed to blood borne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment.
Starting Annual Salary:
$26,083.00 – $30,193.00, Depending on Qualifications
Hertford County is moving from a 24 hours on, 48 hours off schedule to a 24 hours on, 72 hours off schedule.
