Hertford County is seeking to fill the following full-time position in governmental operations
Essential Functions/Typical Tasks:
Performs responsible semiskilled and unskilled work in a variety of landscaping, building and grounds maintenance assignments; does related work as assigned.  Work is performed under regular supervision. Limited supervision may be exercised over assigned personnel.Dusts furniture, walls, windowsills and other woodwork; moves office furniture when required.Keeps track of supplies needed for maintaining the appearance of County buildings.Gathers and disposes of refuse, litter, and trash; empties wastebaskets.
Mows and trims grass with power mowers and string trimmers; prunes shrubbery; edges curbs and walkways; weeds flower beds; policies grounds, picks up and disposes of debris.Performs minor maintenance and repair tasks on interior and exterior of buildings including patching leaking roofs, fixing broken bathroom fixtures, etc.Replaces interior and exterior light bulbs; replaces ceiling tiles.Inspects fire extinguishers on a monthly basis.Transports supplies to work sites.Performs related tasks as required.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and a minimum of 1 year experience in building cleaning, landscaping, and/or grounds maintenance work.
Physical Requirements:
This is medium work requiring the exertion of up to 50 pounds occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; work regularly requires stooping, crouching, standing, and walking; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for the use of measuring devices and operation of motor vehicles or equipment. The worker is subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions.
