Building and Grounds Maintenance Worker- Hertford County is seeking a Building and Grounds Maintenance Worker. This position performs semi-skilled and unskilled work in a variety of landscaping, building and grounds maintenance assignments and related work as assigned.
Essential functions including mowing county lawns and trimming trees, making repairs to the interior and exterior of County buildings: repairing leaks, patching pipes and changing light bulbs; maintaining the appearance of County buildings and keeping work area clean and safe.
The candidate must have general k knowledge of building maintenance and cleaning practices, supplies and equipment and the ability to use them economically and efficiently; general knowledge of the use of common power tools and how to operate safely and effectively; ability to understand oral and written directions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, ability to read and write; physical ability to perform heavy manual work; ability to work independently.
The educational requirement is any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school plus a minimum of one year of experience in landscaping, building and grounds maintenance work.
This position requires the ability to exert up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 20 founds frequently and up to 10 pounds of force constantly. The candidate will be subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions.
Successful candidate must have a valid North Carolina driver’s license.
Salary Range begins $18, 8796
