Property revaluation underway in Hertford Co.

Residential, agricultural and commercial properties in Hertford County are currently undergoing appraisal.  Pearson’s Appraisal Service, Inc. was awarded the contract by Hertford County local government officials and began working in the county in April.  All appraisers will have ID badges and vehicles will be identified as well.  Appraisers will be out in the county throughout 2017 and 2018.  All properties in Hertford County will be visited.  Real property includes land, buildings, detached garages and other outbuildings and permanent structures. Doublewide mobile homes are classified as real property and singlewide mobile homes may be classified as real property if certain criteria are met.  Counties in North Carolina are required by statue to reappraise properties at least every eight years.  Hertford County’s last county-wide assessment was effective January 1, 2011. Property values through the current reappraisal are scheduled to take effect on Jan. 1, 2019.
