Food & Nutrition Services:

The North Carolina Division of Social Services arranges for the Food & Nutrition benefits to be provided to eligible recipients. Eligibility is determined by policy and procedures set forth by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). Benefits are provided to the recipients by an Electronic Benefit Transfer card (EBT card).

Program Integrity

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) requires that each county maintain a Program Integrity Unit which monitors the benefits and services of citizens who apply for Food and Nutrition Services, Work First, Medicaid, Child Services and other programs. The responsibility of this program is to investigate all referrals and ensure customers are receiving the correct amount of benefits and services.

Pandemic Electronic Benefits (P-EBT) FAQ
Pandemic Electronic Benefits (P-EBT) provides a benefit on an EBT card to North Carolina families whose children have access to free and reduced lunch at school. The P-EBT program is a collaboration between the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services and the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction and is intended to help families during school closures.
