|Primary Function of Organizational Unit||North Carolina Cooperative Extension gives our residents easy access to the resources and expertise of NC State University and NC A&T State University. Through educational programs, publications and events, Cooperative Extension agents deliver unbiased, research-based information to North Carolina citizens.|
|Essential Job Duties||
This is a temporary, part-time position of 18 hours per week.
Job responsibilities include: answering telephone and greeting visitors; providing general information, typing documents, preparing and maintaining files and records.
Responsibilities include providing support for county Extension staff and other functions in the office including updating scheduling of meeting rooms, file management and maintaining office supplies;
Reviewing and editing correspondence. Compose and/or types correspondence, reports, fliers, media releases; prepares and distributes newsletters;
Maintains confidentiality of various materials and information; sends out correspondence via email or postal, process outgoing mail and mass mailings;
Provide excellent customer service to call-in and walk-in clients and work with a diverse clientele;
Assist in program development and management for agents across a variety of subject matter specialties. Take registrations for programs, collect and receipt monies according to Hertford County and University established guidelines; maintains professionalism.
Travel within the district as required.
|Minimum Experience/Education||Graduation from high school and two years office assistance and secretarial experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.|
|Departmental Required Skills||General knowledge of standard office practices, procedures, equipment and office assistance techniques; general knowledge of business English, spelling and arithmetic; general knowledge of administrative policies and practices; ability to keep office records and to prepare accurate reports from file sources; ability to prepare effective correspondence on routine matters and to perform routine office assistance details without referral to a supervisor; ability to operate standard office and computer equipment. Extensive knowledge of computer applications is required including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.|
|Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education||Experience in web-page management, desktop publishing, newsletter design and preparation. Must be highly motivated and innovative. Must be a good team member and support and develop a positive work environment.|
|Required License or Certification||Valid driver’s license and reliable, personal transportation required.|
