Hertford County is announcing multiple Dispatcher vacancies.
Dispatcher – Under regular supervision, performs responsible technical work dispatching law enforcement, fire and rescue personnel and other equipment and/or personnel in response to emergency situations. In addition, this position will receive, record and forward non-emergency calls, prepare and maintain files and records and prepare reports.
Position requires general knowledge of methods of operating telecommunication equipment, general knowledge of radio and teletype procedures, general knowledge of the geography of the County, ability to type at a reasonable rate of speed, ability to deal courteously with the public under stressful conditions. This position operates in an around-the-clock environment.
The position requires the exertion of up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Work also requires reaching, fingering, grasping, feeling and repetitive motions. Vocal communication is required. Hearing is required. Visual acuity is required.
The educational requirement is any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school.
Successful candidate must have ‘Basic Telecommunicator’ and “Division of Criminal Information’ Certificates, or have the ability to acquire them within one year of employment.
Hertford County is recruiting for one Full-Time position and two Part-Time positions.
Starting Salary: $22,530 – Full time and $10.29/hour Part-Time
